ASTM A178 is the standard specification for
electric-resistance-welded carbon steel and carbon-manganese steel boiler and superheater tubes. Materials are carbon steel and carbon-manganese steel. ASTM A178 pipe and tube are mostly to be used in boiler tubes, boiler flues, superheater flues, and other safe applications. there are three steel grades for ASTM A178: Grade  A is (low-carbon steel, grade C (medium-carbon steel), and grade  D (carbon-manganese steel). Manufacturing processes must include heat treatment, welding after cooling. Crush test shall be performed if required by the customer.
